| National Bamboo Mission |

The National Bamboo Mission is a Centrally Sponsored
Scheme with 100% contribution from Central Government.
It is being implemented by the Horticulture Division
under Department of Agriculture and Co-operation in the
Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi.
Bamboo Mission envisages integration of different
Ministries/Departments and involvement of local
people/initiatives for the holistic development of
bamboo sector in terms of growth of bamboo through
increase in area coverage, enhanced yields and
scientific management, marketing of bamboo and bamboo
based handicrafts, generation of employment
opportunities etc. |
| Bamboo Mission
Punjab |
In accordance with the guidelines of National Bamboo
Mission, a ‘Bamboo Mission’ project has been launched in
the State of Punjab. Under this mission ‘Punjab Bamboo
and Fiber Development Board’ (PBFDB) has been
constituted to execute the works in the State sanctioned
under National Bamboo Mission. PBFDB is a registered
entity. Its registration was done by Additional
Registrar of Societies, District Industries Centre, SAS
Nagar (Punjab) vide No. 2203 of 2007-08 on 25th
February, 2008. PCCF, Punjab is the Ex-officio ‘Mission
Director’ of the PBFDB.
Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India through its
F.No.44-04/2007-Hort.(NBM) dated 28.02.2008 conveyed its
administrative approval for implementation of the
Centrally sponsored scheme of National Bamboo Mission (NBM)
during 2007-08 in the State of Punjab through PCCF,
PBFDB and sanctioned a sum of Rs.395.71 lac for
implementation of action plan during 2007-08. The
component wise detail of targets & achievements under
this Action Plan is given as under: -

Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India vide
No.44-11/2007-Hort.NBM dated 07.07.2008 has authorized
the State Government/Implementing Agencies to utilize
the unspent balance lying with them from the releases
made during 2007-08 for implementation of the Plan
activity under the National Bamboo Mission.
Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India vide No.
44-11/2006-Hort.NBM/Pt dated 04.06.2008 has approved in
principal Action Plan 2008-09 of Rs.317.92 lac for
Punjab State and has allocated Rs.135.50 lac for
implementation of this scheme in the State during the
year
2008-09. Apropos of this, the Ministry vide No.
F.No.44-14/2008-Hort(NBM) dated 09.06.2008 has conveyed
its sanction to the release of Rs.79.48 lac in favour of
PCCF, PBFDB under the Action Plan 2008-09. |
